Traffic restrictions around Kansalaistori Square on New Year’s Eve
Traffic restrictions will apply to roads, bicycle lanes and pedestrian routes in the vicinity of Kansalaistori Square on 31 December due to the New Year event. Attendees are advised to arrive at the event using public transport or on foot. The easiest way to access the area is via Mannerheimintie.
There will be restrictions on bicycle and pedestrian traffic in the vicinity of Kansalaistori Square from 16:30 and road traffic between 22:00 and 02:00 due to the New Year event.
Attendees are advised to arrive at the New Year event from Mannerheimintie; Kamppi station is recommended as the most convenient stop for those arriving by metro. The event area can also be accessed from the shores of Töölönlahti Bay. We recommend that attendees arrive early to the event to ensure a smooth experience.
The Baana bicycle path will be closed at Kansalaistori Square at about 16:30, and cyclists will not be allowed in or through the area during the event. The pedestrian route through the Sanomatalo building will be closed to the public from 17:00 and Eero Erkon katu, i.e. the pedestrian and bicycle path between Sanomatalo and Oodi, will close after the children’s event from about 19:00.
Mannerheimintie will be closed to vehicle traffic between Arkadiankatu and Eteläinen Hesperiankatu between 22:00 and 02:00. Rescue vehicles will, however, have access to the event area and surrounding areas.
