Windows95man, Anssi Kela, Sara Siipola and Mirella to star in Helsinki’s New Year celebrations in Kansalaistori Square
A grand event held in Kansalaistori Square will once again mark the turn of the year, with. Windows95man, Anssi Kela, Sara Siipola and Mirella as the headliners of the evening concert. The event will kick off with a programme for families with children, which this year will include Skidit Disco and visits from artists performing in the evening concert. The New Year’s Eve celebrations will culminate in an impressive pyrotechnic display.
Helsinki’s grand New Year’s Eve event will take place as usual in Kansalaistori Square and feature performances by star artists and a children’s programme. Starting at 6pm, the evening’s festivities will kick off with Skidit Disco for the whole family, featuring DJs, dancers, a children’s choir, Robo-robot, Windows95man and Sara Siipola, among others. The children’s programme will be topped off with a pyrotechnic display for the youngest partygoers at 6.55pm.
The evening’s concert starts at 10.15 pm. To the delight of the younger audience, Mirella, who released her debut album in November, will accompany the New Year celebrations, after which Sara Siipola will take the stage. Mayor Juhana Vartiainen’s New Year’s greeting will be followed by a performance by Anssi Kela curated especially for this event. The evening will be crowned with an appearance by this year’s Eurovision star Windows95man. The turn of the year will be celebrated with a spectacular pyrotechnic display, which can be experienced throughout the event area from the Kansalaistori Square to the steps of the Parliament House and the Töölönlahti event park.
The children’s event will be streamed live on Yle Areena starting from 6pm and on TV1 from 6.20pm. The evening’s gala concert hosted by Emma Karasjoki and Hanna Kataja-Rahko will be streamed live 10.35pm–00.05 am on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena.
