The New Year’s event causes exceptional traffic arrangements

New Year’s celebrations mean exceptional traffic arrangements will be in place for light and vehicle traffic in the vicinity of Kansalaistori. The access road between Sanomatalo and Oodi will be closed to the public after the children’s New Year event. We recommend arriving to the event by public transport or on foot.

New Year’s celebrations mean exceptional traffic arrangements will be in place for light and vehicle traffic in the vicinity of Kansalaistori from 10pm to 1am. However, rescue vehicles will be able to access the event area and the surrounding environment. Töölönlahdenkatu and Mannerheimintie will be closed to vehicles from 10pm to 1am. Traffic will be diverted from Mannerheimintie to Hesperiankatu and from the corner of Kiasma to Arkadiankatu.

The access road between Sanomatalo and Oodi, known as Eero Erkon katu, will be closed to the public from the direction of Rautatientori from 7.15pm after the children’s New Year event. People coming to the evening event are recommended to walk along Töölönlahden katu around Oodi or along the edge of Mannerheinimtie via the Musiikkitalo steps. If the event area is full, the public will be directed around Musiikkitalo via Tapahtumapuisto. Restrictions on bicycle traffic will also be in place in the vicinity of the event area and Baana will be partly closed from 5.30pm onwards.

The celebrations will also mean exceptional public transport arrangements from 9.45pm to 2am. The bus terminal at Elielinaukio will be out of use and from 9.45pm to 2am all buses will be diverted to Kamppi.
